1.6 million adults identify as transgender in the U.S.

Of the adults who identify as transgender,
38.5% (515,200) are transgender women
35.9% (480,000) are transgender men
25.6% (341,800) reported they are gender nonconforming1
Acceptance from at least one adult can decrease the risk of LGBTQ+ youth attempting suicide by 40%2

In 2022, 91% of the anti-LGBTQ+ bills filed did not become law, partly because of the tireless advocacy of trans activists and allies.3
Call your representatives: Urge your legislators to fight back against anti-trans legislation.

Volunteer with the Trevor Project. The Trevor Project is the leading suicide prevention and crisis intervention nonprofit organization for LGBTQ+ young people. Link to volunteer
Donate to trans support organizations such as The Trevor Project, The Transgender Law Center, or GLSEN.

"Sense8" Netflix's "Sense8" has been lauded for its LGBTQ representation.
"Tales of the City"Based on Armistead Maupin's book series, this new iteration of "Tales of the City" features transgender man "Jake" in each episode, and episode eight includes transgender actresses Jen Richards and Daniela Vega.
"Supergirl" The first transgender superhero can be found on the show: Nia Nal/Dreamer, played by Nicole Maines.
"9-1-1: Lone Star" Transgender actor Brian Michael Smith stars as a firefighter.
"Billions" Star Asia Kate Dillon is non-binary.
"Star Trek: Discovery" The series has cast the first transgender and non-binary characters in the franchise's history.
"Good Girls" Audiences have seen the character Ben grow up over several seasons; the character told his mom he was a boy last year.
"The L Word: Generation Q" This reboot features a transgender man, and seems to be an improvement over the original's trans man storyline.
"Work in Progress" Sharp black comedy, lovable trans characters, and refreshingly unfiltered take on mental illness, body image, and gender non-conformity.
"Euphoria" Hunter Schafer's Jules, who is transgender, is an integral character on HBO's teen drama.
"Saved By the Bell" The reboot features transgender actress Josie Totah.
Movies
"The True Adventures of Wolfboy" The film is a coming-of-age story about fears and emotions transgender people grapple with in the face of transition.
"A Fantastic Woman" The Academy Award-winning movie (for best foreign language film) stars Daniela Vega.
"Lingua Franca" Written by, directed by and starring Isabel Sandoval, a trans woman.
"The Craft: Legacy" The film features transgender Latina actress Zoey Luna.
Documentaries
"Call Her Ganda" This documentary focuses on the killing of a Filipina trans woman and, in the wake of the incident, a quest for justice.
"The Trans List" Watch famous faces from the transgender community share their stories.
"Real Boy" This is "an intimate story of a family in transition."

66% of trans teens report they often avoid drinking water throughout the day because of how uncomfortable they are with the bathrooms at their school.
Advocate for gender-neutral bathrooms at your school by writing to your administrators. You can also remind your school administrators that according to US Federal Law, students have the right to use the bathroom that matches their gender identity.
